Many friends of the Steve Cox Classic know Scott from his days working for AT&T from 1989-1995 in Basking Ridge. A long time friend of Steve's sister, Kathy, and her husband Tony Paalz, Scott remains close to his New Jersey roots in spite of living mostly overseas for the last ten years. Now the Chief Operating Officer of Belgacom, the largest telecommunications company in Belgium, Scott hosts many friends from the AT&T days at his home in Brussels and remains in constant electronic touch. Together with his wife, Bernice, and children, Gavin (12) and Zoe (10), "Team Alcott" have made many reunion visits with old friends in Morristown.
I'm Not Lance! is not a typical cancer book nor is it an autobiography. For patients and their supporters, Alcott provides a window into the social, psychological, and practical challenges facing all members in the cancer fighting community. Whether newly diagnosed or a veteran to the battle, his book seems to resonate as evidenced by his many 5-star reviews on Amazon.com:
"Anyone going through the journey or supporting the patient, should read this."
"I was totally captivated by every single word I read."
"I'm Not Lance is a must read!"

Asked why he decided to write about his experience, Scott recalls, "When I was diagnosed with cancer, people kept sending me Lance Armstrong's book for inspiration, and I found it hard to relate to. Lance's endurance, discipline, and competitive spirit is legendary and hard to emulate; I wanted to write a book for regular people. I've dared to say what patients, supporters, and doctors actually think, with an eye on raising understanding and better dynamics between these wonderful and caring people."
