Popular feature columnist and reporter with New Jersey's largest newspaper, The Star-Ledger, Kathleen O'Brien is also a "friend of Steve" and member of the Cox Classic Advisory Council. As keynote speaker at last year's Cox Classic, she provided a compelling narrative on life with breast cancer, something with which she is quite familiar. Since receiving her breast cancer diagnosis in May, 2009, she has had surgery, reconstruction, and is now receiving chemotherapy. She is chronicling her observations about cancer, breasts, medical care and hospital gowns in her blog, "We'll Know More on Monday."

Kathleen's wry look at everyday life has won state and national recognition - including as a finalist for the American Society of Newspaper Editors' 2008 Distinguished Writing Award. The daughter of a Michigan newspaperman, she is married and has a daughter in college.
