St. Jude is the single largest center in the United States for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other childhood catastrophic diseases. Public contributions are the primary sources of funds for the hospital, with 84 percent of every dollar received going to the current or future needs of St. Jude. Thanks to the support of volunteers and donors, St. Jude physicians and scientists have been able to pioneer treatments that have helped push the overall survival rates for childhood cancer from less than 20 percent in 1962 to more than 70 percent today. Children are treated at St. Jude without regard to a family’s ability to pay. Families never pay for treatment that is not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.
It is because of the support from organizations such as the Steven A. Cox Foundation and the generosity of the 18th Annual Cox Classic Community that allows St. Jude to keep its doors open and continue Finding cures. Saving children.
