A six-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Val Skinner ranked in the top 15 in the world 7 of 20 seasons during her LPGA career. She was a member of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup team in 1996 and has been inducted into three golf halls of fame. Prior to joining the LPGA Tour, Skinner was selected as Golf Magazine's 1982 Collegiate Player of the year.
Off the course, she has made it her mission to educate young women about breast cancer and the importance of good breast health practices. She founded the Val Skinner Foundation in 2000 and LIFE (LPGA Pros in the fight to eradicate breast cancer) in memory of her fellow LPGA touring professional and close friend, Heather Farr, who died of breast cancer in 1993 at the age of 28.

In 2007, she received the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association Winnie Palmer Award which acknowledges an individual in golf who has given consistently of his or her time, energy, and enthusiasm in helping others.
